New adventures

Sometimes I daydream about what it would be like in the 50's and 60's when women took care of the home and the man came home from work at 5 to a feast of a meal, well groomed kids and a wife in heels and pressed dresses. The house is immaculate and everyone is smiling and happy as they sit down to eat the Martha meal.

Psshhh! That's just hysterical! My (& everyone else's) true life is more like this...

Yeah, I take care of the house - aka, keep it from burning down; my hubs gets home around 8-10 if we are lucky, the feast consists of ramen noodles or something quick enough to grace the inside of the microwave. Most likely the kids are pooping in their sleep and their bed head eats the combs for dinner. The only thing pressed on me is the wet goldfish cracker stuck to the back of my sweatpants that I've worn for 3 days. The house is 2 violations away from needing a hazmat suit to enter and if smiling equals snoring with droolface, then sign me up.

I seriously don't know how people have more than two kids and aren't medicated. If I could drink 10 cups of coffee, I certainly would. The one cup-a-day I allow myself really just ain't cuttin it. I don't drink more in fear that sweet baby Ashlyn will twitch in preschool, so I limit myself.

There are things I let slide, like, everything that isn't breathing. Even some that are get the short stick on occasion. Our poor dogs haven't had good attention in so long they have settled for Leightons aggressive kicks to the skull as forms of endearment.

Throw in a few dr visits, therapy, or even an 'outing' and I am nearly collapsing in the bathtub while leighton gives ME a bath!

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade this new role for anything, but I have to tell ya, I really believe sahm's should earn more! We are household engineers! The schedules, problem solving, activities-oh the activities!!- the play dates and whatnots... That isn't even taking into account the kids and their 'needs' with the pooping and peeing, clothes and food...It's the hardest job I've ever had!

But I love it and I want to do it all the time. So I am. Goodbye to the big job in the city and hello to the new world of raising your own children. Who would've thunk it!?

I'm ready for the challenge and ready for the adventure. Now, bear with me as I write many blog posts to vent about my new adventure. That's if I can stay awake long enough... :)

Until next time!
